The 8th Annual Faringdon “Bangers & Beer” Festival, in aid of The Pump House Project and The Place, will take place on the 10th and 11th of October 2025.

Please be advised that you are now able to apply for a temporary congestion charge permit for Oxford City. https://www.oxfordshire.gov.uk/transport-and-travel/oxfords-temporary-congestion-charge-cars-cars/apply-temporary-congestion-charge-permit/oxfordshire-area-permit We have a new contact number for waste-related queries – from now on, residents who cannot find or report waste information online, should call
01235 422 123. The old 03000 waste number will soon be turned off. This new number is for all district council household waste, recycling, food, garden waste (collections only*), bulky waste collections, clinical waste collections and street cleaning services. It is also the number to call to report fly-tipping and abandoned vehicles. Please help to spread the word by sharing this information with residents, friends and family in the local area. Note that or queries about garden waste permits, residents should continue to call 01235 422 422. For enquiries relating to Household Waste and Recycling Centres (HWRC’s), people should continue to contact the county council on 0345 310 1111. I will be demonstrating 3 subject areas of the 'Essentials of First Aid' over 3 One Hour sessions on this coming Saturday in our village Reading Room and open to all of our village residents. Each session will comprise of the following topics to gain life saving skills and with an opportunity to participate and to 'have a go', if you wish to:
Whatever your plans for the day you will be welcome to 'drop-in' to any of the One Hour sessions: Starting at - 9.30am, 11.00am & 12.30pm - Close-down will be at 2.00pm. Please join us for FREE refreshments whatever your plans for the duration of the event, while we are supported by www.rrtglobal.org and one of their local 'Rapid Response Teams' who will be providing Bacon Butties/Donuts/Teas/Coffee (Yes, the barista bean variety!) and soft drinks, from a global organisation that supports the emergency services and our communities with welfare support and to provide resilience in times of protracted or major incidents. High winds (although dry weather!) is predicted for Saturday and so I would not expect you to miss the wafting of cooked bacon over the village rooftops! You are invited to sample some of the fayre on offer while passing by, or dropping-in to one of my sessions. Enjoy! I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible, while capacity at the Reading Room will be limited to 50 per session. We will look to further future sessions if demand outstrips capacity on this occasion. My thanks to our Parish Council, Trustees of our Community Fund for funding the day, along with the White Horse Practice (Faringdon) and our local Pharmacies, for support with health and information leaflets available on the day. Please avoid parking in the area adjacent to the Reading Room as vehicular access of the RRT team will be required.
