Please note, that the consultation in relation to a 20mph zone in Great Coxwell is expected in 2023, but OCC have decided to combine Little Coxwell and Great Coxwell speed limits into one Schedule. For that reason Great Coxwell remains at 30mph in the Schedule attached by OCC for the purposes of Little Coxwell's consultation on speed limits. Great Coxwell Parish Council CONSULTATION – Little Coxwell proposed 20mph Speed Limit Oxfordshire County Council wants to make our built environments safer and more attractive places to walk and cycle. To enable this, 20mph speed restrictions are being used to help promote alternative modes of transport for local travel. Further details on how the council is considering making 20mph the new 30mph for Oxfordshire communities can be found here. We're therefore asking for your views on the proposal to introduce a 20mph speed limit throughout Little Coxwell, replacing the current unrestricted national speed limit in its entirety, leading out of the village to its junction with Fernham Road. Additionally, a 40mph speed limit ‘buffer’ will be introduced on the Fernham Road, either side of the junction with the access to the village - replacing the existing 60mph national speed limit in the process. The proposals are being put forward following road safety concerns raised by the parish, and are part of a countywide programme of works that seeks to deliver ‘a safer place with a safer pace’ for the residents of Oxfordshire. In light of this, please find the following consultation documents attached: The proposed Traffic Regulation Order is scheduled to be advertised in the Oxford Times newspaper today; Thursday 03rd November 2022, and details are also available to view on the Councils consultation portal at the address below: https://letstalk.oxfordshire.gov.uk/littlecoxwell_20mph2022 For the next couple of weeks extensive refurbishment of the basketball court surround is being untaken in the park.
The rest of the park should be available for use but please take care and be aware of contractors accessing the site. This work has been possible by S106 funding from the Vale of the White Horse. GCPC  Queen Elizabeth ll, was the longest-serving monarch in British history, serving our country with dedication and devotion for 70 years. She was also a much-loved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and the Parish Council sends its sincere condolences to The King and the entire Royal Family.
Buckingham Palace confirmed the news earlier today, in a statement saying: “ The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon. The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.“ A book of condolence will be available for signing in the Church from 9:30am tomorrow. The Church bell will be tolled 96 times, one of each year of the Queen’s life, at 10am tomorrow (Friday 9th September). The Vicar will hold a short prayer vigil after the tolling of the bell at 10am. Flowers may be left (unwrapped) on the grass to the left and right of the main doors into the Church. (Please note flowers will be removed the day after the state funeral and composted). This week’s Sunday Service (10:30am) will be dedicated to the memory of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Councils bring back their FREE Litter Bug activity trails competition for the school summer holidays20/7/2022
 From Saturday 6 August to Sunday 4 September South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse district councils are once again running FREE Litter Bug Detectives activity trails for children in villages and towns across the districts.
Those taking part have a chance to win £20 vouchers for themselves and a rainbow-coloured bench – made from recycled plastic – for their school. The trails average just over 2km on marked routes around local parks and recreation grounds. There are 14 stops on each route with questions on waste and recycling. The answers to the questions give letter clues to make up a three-word answer at the end. Local town and parish councils are managing the trails using materials from the councils’ waste team. The activities follow a successful scheme run during the school holidays last year. The trails are aimed at primary school children (under-12s) to promote recycling and reuse messages and explain the damage litter does to our environment. Each child, who sends in the correct answer, can request a personalised Litter Bug Detectives certificate. They are also entered into a prize draw – one draw for each council – for £20 vouchers for themselves and a bench for their school. Cllr Sue Cooper South Oxfordshire District Council cabinet member for said: “This was very popular last year, with lots of entries and lots of parents telling us how nice it was that the councils provided something fun and free to do during the school holidays. For us, it’s also a great way to promote recycling and reuse to primary school children – and their parents.” Cllr Sally Povolotsky, Vale of White Horse District Council cabinet member for Climate Emergency and the environment, said: “The trails are fun, free and local. Hopefully many families can just walk to their nearest trail. In addition to some exercise, the children get a chance to win a prize for themselves and their school, and also learn some interesting facts about waste!” How to take part

Please put your bins out the night before they’re due to be emptied this week. Biffa will begin waste collections at 5am on Monday 18 July and Tuesday 19 July due to the expected heatwave. This should help their crews avoid being out at the hottest part of the day.
Even with the early start, it’s possible Biffa’s waste collection crews may not be able to complete their rounds. If this happens and your bins are not emptied, please leave them out for two days after your scheduled collection day and the crews will aim to catch up later in the week.
