Parking in the village

21/3/2026

Quick reminder: Parking in the village needs extra care to keep our narrow road clear — especially past the Reading Room. Emergency vehicles are much wider than our cars. Please just double‑check that you and your visitors leave enough space for ambulances and fire engines to get by.

Many Thanks

Thanks from Vicar Maureen

18/2/2026

I would like to convey my huge "thanks" to everyone who came along to the joyous soiree last Friday to send me on my way to pastures new. It was a wonderful evening, and I felt honoured to be with you and hear your many encouraging comments and best wishes for my future.

A very special "thank  you" to Pam, Pauline and Mandy (and their team of excellent helpers) who not only organized the event but provided such delicious and varied canapes to have with the fine wine.

Thanks also for the tribute, the beautiful flowers and cards and for the very generous gift voucher which will be used to purchase something for my new house and garden.

It has been a great privilege for me to get to know you over these past five years and to feel a real part of the village community. I will take away with me so many good and positive memories of my time here.

I wish you God's Blessings in everything you do for the village, for the support you give to the Church and above all, your friendship,

Sincerely,
Maureen

Say Good-bye to our Vicar - Maureen

19/1/2026

Maureen will be finishing as our Vicar – her last service in Great Coxwell being on Sunday 8 February.  Maureen joined our village and the Badbury Benefice during Covid and has been our Vicar for 5 years.  Maureen has seen many of us through highs and lows and we would like to thank her for all her devotion.  It goes without saying the entertainment on Christmas Eve at the Barn!  Maureen is now retiring and moving on to pastures new.

The Great Coxwell Village Community Group would like to invite you to join us to say good-bye to Maureen on Friday 13th February at the Reading Room.  There will be small eats (some children friendly) and a drink.  This will be between 6.00 pm and 7.30 pm.

For catering purposes, it would be good to know if you are joining us – please contact

Pam Smith – 07443636497
Pauline Durham - 07388506995

Wednesday Coffee - Open House - Drop In Coffee

13/1/2026

Change of Venue  14th January at Hollycroft and 21st January at Foxley.

Reading Room.  As there will be renovation works in the Reading Room starting in the gents’ toilets next Tuesday 13th January and expected to last two weeks,  it has been suggested that we do not use the Reading Room for Wednesday Drop In Coffee.

There will still be Coffee on Wednesday but on 14th at Hollycroft (next to Old School) and on 21st at Foxley (pink house at the bottom of the village).  We look forward to seeing you at 10.30 on Wednesday as usual.

Village Group Photo

7/1/2026

I've been passed a couple of photos by a villager who is keen to know when they were taken, there are definitely some current villagers in the photo.

Probably best viewed on computer rather than a phone, if you click on the image below it will take you to the high resolution image and you can zoom in to spot the faces.

Please let me know ([email protected]) if you spot yourself and others and I will try to fill in all the names and republish it.

But more importantly in order to settle a bet we need to know when it was taken, what was the occasion and year?

Email me at [email protected] with any information you have, thanks in advance.
