Launch of Open Kitchen

2/11/2022

Is anyone free for lunch on Friday and would like to join us for a pay-as-you-feel lunch in Faringdon?

A group of us are launching our winter warm spaces this week. Ours is called Open Kitchen Faringdon CIC. I’m sure it will be really quiet as we start and I would so appreciate your support.

Lunch will be cottage pie (a local beef one and a vegetarian one) and apple crumble and custard. All homemade and served from 12.30 at Blessed Hugh Catholic Church Hall, Faringdon. The hall is behind the church off Portway /Southampton St Car Park. It has it’s own car park you can use.

We would LOVE to see you there.

Reading Room

17/10/2022

Wednesday Open House Coffee on 19th October has now been cancelled. Hopefully things will be more back to normal by Wednesday 26th October.

HOT SPOTS!

14/10/2022

Faringdon Town has put its efforts together to come up with a warm space five days a week where anyone can go to meet others, be part of the community, do activities, be warm, get information, make friends, volunteer, work and have food, all on a donation only basis.

Sarah Oliver and myself are organising Fridays and are looking for helpers. We will be working from 9am - 5pm in the Catholic Church Hall in Faringdon, every Friday till and including 16th December and then again till March. If you think you might have a few hours to spare on a Friday to help in anyway - being a friendly face when folk arrive, cooking, tidying up, book keeping, making a cake, bringing a friend along, then please be in touch and join us.

Email [email protected] or message/call 07766 954 559.
Thanks Annabelle (Zinovieff, Chapel House)

7/9/2022

Picture
Please come along and meet our consultants who are working to produce a feasibility study into connecting all our houses in the village to low carbon hot water for heating and hot water. Known as a Heating Network, it is very standard in Scandinavian countries but pretty innovative in the UK. I’m sure you have lots of questions and Monday’s meeting is set up for you to have them answered.

This will be their only visit so please join us. 7pm in the Reading Room.

Best wishes
Annabelle (Chapel House) and Ken (Danes Court)

Great Barn

31/8/2022

Picture
Dear all,

It is time for another Stonevale concert again, and as some of you know already, it will form part of the Great Barn Festival like last year.  Sebastian Mueller (violin) (Professor at the Vienna Conservatoire, as well as Chethams and Guildhall)  and I have a fantastic programme lined up, including Beethoven's Spring Sonata, as well as works by Dvorak, Enescu and perhaps a composer that some of you have not even heard of - Porumbescu!

Piano Gallery is moving my grand piano to the barn again for this occasion, and the acoustics in the barn proved to be fantastic for piano and violin.

This piano and violin recital will be on Sunday 18th September at 11 am.  If you live in Great Coxwell, you can contact Ainslie Williams directly and get your ticket discounted.  We would love to see you there and please forward this email to anyone you think would be interested.
